Three Safe Exercise Equipment Options For Seniors

senior_treadmill_fitness-LRIt is so important that seniors are able to stay safe as they are exercising. Seniors often have different needs than younger populations do when it comes to exercising, so it is very important that they are using equipment that is safe for them. Thankfully, there are a lot of equipment options for them to choose from.

Treadmills are excellent for seniors who would like to work their cardiovascular system and strengthen their legs. Treadmills are great for a few different reasons. For one thing, the treadmill creates a safe surface for a senior to walk on at all times, that also provides handrails for them to hold onto. When a senior walks outdoors, the surfaces may not be level and when they walk on a track, they have nothing to hold onto for added support. They also have complete control of the pace and incline that they would like on the treadmill, essentially allowing them to create the perfect workout.

Exercise Balls

Exercise balls can also be used safely by seniors. Exercise balls are large balls that can be used for exercises that involve with the upper body, the lower body, or both. They are great for laying on to do core exercises as well, which are very important for creating a strong lower back and providing stability. Since both of these things are very important for seniors, an exercise ball is a great piece of equipment for them to own.

Resistance Loops

Resistance loops are somewhat like resistance bands, but are much smaller and create one continuous loop. This loop can then go around either the arms or the legs of a senior, and provide a varied level of resistance for them. This is great for seniors who would like added resistance in their workouts, but don't feel comfortable using dumbbells. The resistance loops are great for back rows, chest-opening exercises, glute bridges, leg lifts, and more.
